Psalm 87
"The Lord is their inheritance, as He promised them. “"Deuteronomy 18:2
Patriotism means a great many things, but one thing it surely involves is the love of homeland. We dearly love and respect our United States of America. Home of the free and land of the brave. God has truly blessed us in our nation. May He continue to protect us from all enemies. Many authors and poets have written about what home is. In the end, home is where you hope to belong.
All of us yearn to have a place where we belong— a place that is lasting, welcoming, and will never turn us away. To be homeless, stateless, a refugee in a foreign land - how lonely! How frightening!
Because of sin, homelessness is our natural spiritual condition. All of us were once strangers and aliens to God - cut off from Him by our own sin and homeless by our own wrongdoing. But God came into our world to find us and bring us home. By His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus brought us back to God. Everyone who trusts in Him has God as His everlasting home.
The Levitical priests had no land of their own in Israel. This was a sign that our true inheritance is our Lord, not our homeland. God doesn’t have to take us in. But He made Himself our home out of sheer love and grace--undeserved, but freely given.
Thanks be to God Almighty: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for our wonderful nation of the U.S.A. and most importantly thanks and praise to Him for our heavenly home freely given through Jesus death and resurrection. May the Spirit increase our faith in Him.
Dear Lord, thank You for making yourself our home. Please bless our beloved United States of America that we do Your Will in all of our governing.
Amen.
